Christmas {part three}

{CHRISTMAS IN KENNEY}

We went to my Mom & Dad's Christmas evening around 5:00. We were the first ones there! HELLO - it was a Christmas miracle because that never happens. Totten time is usually about 15 minutes slow.

Although, being the first ones there has it's downfall. I slipped getting out of the car - making sure that Rachel didn't slip. We were on the driveway, which has a bit of an incline, so it was like something out of Home Alone. In no time at all, I was flat on my back & cracked my head on the ground. Poor coordination + snow = bad combo. I felt slightly concussed. But my Dad checked my pupils & all was good I guess.

When we got there, my Mom (who just had foot surgery the end of October) was getting ready to shovel the walk & where we all would park. Jarrett took the shovel from her right away & worked outside for like a half hour. It was so funny, my Mom kept looking out the window & saying "We should stop him, I think he has cleared enough snow off." But neither of us told him...hahahaha! It was good for him.

We took our pictures by the tree.

With the 2010 plate - a tradition started by my Grandma & Grandpa. I was going to say that I don't know how many family pictures there are of us holding up paper plates with the year wrote on them in front of a Christmas tree...but that isn't true. There is one from EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

It was getting to be the Browns' turn. So someone yelled at AJ to get ready for his picture. Well he hopped right up on my lap - so we had to get one of the 5 of us. The funny thing is that he smiled better for the picture with us than with his. I love that kid!

Then all the crazy kids, well minus Chelsea, got in the picture with us.

The Sturgeons

Then onto the presents...

These brown-eyed girls melt my heart.

Miss Sassy Cassie & me

Sarah & Brad, well being Brad - what an expression.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful & joyous holiday. We certainly did.

Christmas {part two}

{CHRISTMAS AT THISTLE DEW FARM}

We headed over to Albert & Vanessa's (aka: Bopchi & Tata's) for presents & brunch at noon. Vanessa made this cinnamon roll french toast, which was quite possibly the best breakfast thing I have ever ate in my life. Yummm...

Anywho, the girls had a great day there.

aaaaah...the bath foam - so fun & messy.

Rachel & her Tata

Look out, the crazy girl is armed with a nerf gun.

Christmas {part one}

Our Christmas was jam packed with merriment. I feel like we do a lot, but we also enjoy a lot.

{CHRISTMAS EVE}

On Christmas Eve we do dinner at Jarrett's Mom & Dad's house. Dinner was delish - party potatoes, yes please! Vanessa actually asked me to vote on which potatoes I would prefer #1 oven roasted, #2 mashed with gravy, or #3 party potatoes. I must have been the only one that voted for party potatoes, but God bless the woman, she made me party potatoes in addition to the oven roasted ones.

Then we join my family at my Grandma's house for Christmas with my Dad's side. That is always so much fun. This year, for the first time like EVER, I forgot my camera ::sniffle sniffle:: I teared up in the car once I realized that I had forgotten it. The snow was ridiculous out & by the time I noticed the camera was MIA, it was too late to turn back around. But, I still enjoyed myself immensely.

{CHRISTMAS MORNING AT HOME}
Since we had Olivia, and now Rachel, we spend Christmas morning at home just the 4 of us. I love that time. This year both of the girls were so excited!

Olivia's gifts from Santa

Rachel's gifts from Santa

These girls were so excited, it melts my heart.

This little girl makes this face ALL. THE. TIME.

What a mess...

It warms my heart to see my little girls so happy.

Ho Ho Homeless Gingerbread Men

Olivia was so excited to decorate the gingerbread house this year. So excited! I typically buy the kit with the already constructed house. (Note to self: continue to buy the already constructed house.) Instead, I got a wild hair up my arse & decided that we would do the one that you put together.

It started off great. See smiley girl.

I'm pretty proud of my general craftiness. I can make lots of things. I have oodles of patience when it comes to projects. Here she is...setting up. The directions said to let it set for 15 minutes. I guess 15 is the magic number of minutes it takes for that dry-wall mud icing to solidify.

I should have known things were going amiss when the roof started giving a little when we were icing the top. Soon enough, it looked like this. I tried to do a quick patch job repairing & re-icing the side that was slipping. I convinced the girls that we should let it set some more since we already had it pretty much decorated to their liking.

I leave the room for a minute. Oh the screams of anguish that came from Olivia for it was her side of the roof that fell completely off. Soon enough, the whole thing was in shambles completely collapsed.

Those poor gingerbread men. Maybe we should add this to the list of things I am not so good at.
