Weigh In Wednesday

I feel like after the title it should have music - DUN DUN DUN...

Anywho...I am on a serious mission. I have a list of things I want to do before I am 30. And get down to my pre-Rachel weight is #1 on the list. It's going to be quite a task. But I figured if I lose 5 pounds a month for the next year - I will be right on the mark. I know right, 60 pounds! YOWZA!!! But I can do it. I have a habit of setting unrealistic goals that are never realized. If I don't look at the whole number, and just focus on the 5 a month - it makes me feel better. So that is what I will be doing.

Since my birthday on September 27th, I have lost 13 pounds. So, technically, I am ahead of schedule. Not by much, but every little bit will help.

I have gotten up & worked out in the morning. My Mama got me an elliptical for my B-Day so I have been putting it to good use. Weight Watchers works, clearly - that is what I did before I got pregnant with Rachel. In 2006, I was at my lowest adult weight at 135. Which according to my height is still at the high end of my range. (I think I just need to be a little taller, but that ain't gonna happen.) I will be happy with 140 or 135 - whatever I think is comfortable & a good fit for my body type. I don't think these child bearing hips will ever been size 2. I guess the good ol' Chub Club is coming out with a new program after Thanksgiving. I am going to join again then.

I will post the weight lost & maybe, just maybe will post my actual weight - but I think that will only happen as I hit milestone losses - but you cannot hold me to it.

Holy Sore Muscles, Batman!

{alternately titled: 'Who Let the Dogs Out' is stuck in my head forever!}

If you have a wii & you don't have this game...

...go buy it. Like, right now!

By far the best $35 I have spent in quite some time. My Liva Lou & I had an absolute blast.
This game is sooooo much fun. And it is a workout without feeling like a workout. I'm sore this morning. We played for like 45 minutes yesterday. It's kinda like 'Sweatin to the Oldies' - but more fun! ha!

FYI - I kicked butt at 'Step by Step' - NKOTB. This was probably because I completely remember the dance moves from that.

Olivia kicked butt at 'Who Let the Dogs Out' - we had to do that one like 4 times. It was a ton of fun!

i think i can

So here I am, officially 2 weeks into this Oh-Dear-Lord-the-wedding-will-be-here-before-I-know-it/Exercise & Weight Loss plan. (I took a week off because I was sick...still am actually, but I am trying to be tough.) I have actually seen some results on the scale...I know, I am shocked too. Who would have thought that I would be successful if I actually put my mind to it.

I kicked it into high gear this week. (Partially because last weekend I had a funnel cake - an entire funnel cake all to myself. It was wonderful. But I probably shouldn't have had it, but it was so darn good.) I didn't see staggering results after week 1 like I had hoped. I lost 1 pound. But hey, it was a loss...not a gain. I will take it, especially with the funnel cake that I am sure didn't help. Makes me pumped to actually try to do some exercise when I can lose weight just by changing my eating habits. So this week, each morning I got up and exercised. Not exactly my idea of a good time, but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. Good thing I lost a whopping 4 pounds this week or else I would be tempted to stop getting up at 5:00 & working out.

Total of 5 pounds down. I am slightly proud of myself, just slightly. I don't want to get too excited just yet.

Week 1 - Hump Day Check In

My first week of Chub Club & Acai Optimum is half over. Thank goodness. Day 1 you were a biotch, & I am glad you are over. I am feeling better now. This is based on the fact that I didn't have a daydream about McDonalds french fries today like I did yesterday. But I will admit I sniffed my co-workers Steak N Shake bag. The fries smelled delightful.

It's hard to drastically change my daily eating routine. Bestie and I haven't gone out for lunch at all this week. I know you probably don't understand the significance of this feat, but believe me, we are so proud of ourselves.

Gone are the days (like 5 in a week usually) when we would load up in the Torrent & go to Mickey D's, Burger King, etc... All is not lost though. We still eat lunch together almost every day (schedule permitting) but we have vowed to bring our lunches every day this week! WOOT WOOT! So far, so good!

Why I wasn't doing this before, I don't know? Ok I'm a liar, I do know. I am lazy - plain & simple. The effort it takes to throw a Lean Cuisine into my lunch bag was too much for my morning routine. But that was the old me. The new me realizes that not only am I saving calories & precious Chub Club points, but I am saving money. HELLO, NATALIE? What were you thinking before? Geesh!

Now, my meals go a little something like this:
  • Breakfast - Fruit Loops with 2% milk {That's all I have time for people, I can't really whip up an egg white omelet before I get the kiddos out of bed in the AM. And I refuse to go to skim milk - I might as well use water! Fruit Loops aren't my fav, but that is what was on sale this week. I may get some lovely bland healthy cereal, then again maybe I won't}
  • Lunch - Turkey Sandwich with mustard OR a frozen meal with green beans {0 points, HOLLA} and fruit
  • Snack - fruit cup/pudding/or popcorn
  • Dinner - whatever I have made for the fam, except sensible portions on a salad plate. {My mind thinks I have more food if I have a smaller plate - I'm a nerd}
Starting tomorrow - I am gonna get really nutty & actually start exercising. I don't know if it's the whole eating right thing or the Acai supplement, but I have a lot more energy now. And rather than spend that energy cleaning my house or something ridiculous like that, I have decided to spend it on me. Olivia & I have played the heck out of Wii this week. I love the Wii - benefits are two-fold: it's a fun way to spend time with my girl, & it's exercise (sort of.)

My Mom & I were talking the other day - in route to the Burger Barge where I happened to consume the largest cheeseburger ever. She said that I have to make myself a priority, and that is something that I have not done in a long time. Really, I don't think many moms do - especially with little ones that need more attention.

So there we have it. I'm a little hungry right now. But I am just going to drink my glass of water - like the 5th one of the day!

P to S - My bestie just did a similar blog post. Totally & completely coincidental. We think alike!

a little thing called WILL-POWER

Generally speaking, I think I seriously lack all kinds of will-power. But today, for some strange reason, I am doing quite well.

I have successfully walked by 2 ginormous cakes & several coolers full of pop. And I have only stopped to smell the thick chocolate frosting. I haven't tasted any.

For lunch, my BFF LAURA and I went to Subway. Chicken breast on wheat bread with apples...that's right apples. I walked right by the delicous cool ranch dorritos & went for the apples. That is definitely saying a lot, especially for me. Chips are my weakness. 35 calories for apples vs. 250 for chips = I WIN!!! Apples are also a "filling food" according to Chub Club. Ask me in about 2 hours how full I feel though, HA!

Plus, I have also been able to avoid all Girl Scout cookies. (Wow, my mouth just started watering.) Anyway, I ordered 3 boxes of cookies but they all remain unopened thus far. Some of my peeps at work even have opened boxes out for the taking. "Here have a cookie." No thanks has been my response today. WOW!

Now, the true test will be tomorrow at weigh in number 2. After my first official week as an active member of the Chub Club, I feel somewhat confidant. Keep your fingers crossed for me, just in case!

The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly

Do you know what's good?
*Getting my brand new stainless, gorgeous, Whirlpool range delivered & installed yesterday. It's absolutely fabulous! I already used it 3 times. I baked some muffins with Olivia literally 5 minutes after the gentlemen from Lowe's pulled out of our driveway. It cooks so evenly & I am in love with the digital temperature controls, and the built in timer. Smooth top, no coils! IN LOVE! (Pictures to come of my new love, I just gotta get em off my camera & onto my computer first.)

Do you know what's BAD - with a capital B?
*Let me set the scene...Last night, the girls are in bed. I am settled in bed watching my favorite Detective on Law & Order Criminal Intent - that's right Detective Bobby Goren. I LOVE HIM! Jarrett is taking a shower & getting ready for bed.

We notice that the furnace is running constantly, yet it's blowing out cold air. I do what any wife would do, I send Jarrett to inspect what the problem is. That's when he found the problem...

Our propane tank had rollen down a little bank in our back yard, I know AWESOME right. But it gets even more AWESOME. Propane is just hissing out of the tank & I was scared out of my wits! Panic...who do I call, 911 or my Dad, FS or my Dad. I called my Dad. Jarrett is panicky too. I was more calm than him & I wasn't calm at all. We got the valve shut off so we were no longer in danger of being blown sky high.

No heat until FS will come out & fix it. Jarrett is under strict orders to rapid fire call them to make sure it gets done today.

Do you know what's ugly?
*My first weigh in at Chub Club that occured Saturday. U-G-L-Y, I don't have no alibi. That number was UGLY! I am not happy. However, like my BFF said, IT'S A STARTING POINT. And I am determined to NEVER SEE THAT NUMBER AGAIN FOR AS LONG AS I LIVE.

And that is all for now.

I HATE LOVE HATE Jillian

Since I constantly forget to post on my Chubby McFatPants Blog, I made the executive decision to combine the two. I plan on just doing it all right here. So without further ado, here is my newest installment of:

Here's the thing about Jillian...I can't decide if I love her or if I hate her.
Today, as I winced when I stepped into the shower because lifting & bending my leg simultaneously hurt immensely - I hated her. When I was washing my hair (which obviously requires lifting my arms up over my head) and I thought my arms just might fall right off my body - I hated her.

Last night, when I successfully completed the whole work out - I loved her. And today when I hurt as much as I did - I loved her. Because it is proof that I actually did something.

Granted, upon completion of Round 1 of the 30 Day Shred I really thought I was going to barf. I have been fighting a slight cold, so picture me doing my lovely asthmatic wheezing. It was wonderful. But, once I caught my breath & got my heart rate down to a normal level - I think that took at least 20 minutes - I felt good. I felt like I had actually took a step in the right direction. I am making progress. I drank 2 glasses of water. And I was pumped for the rest of my night.

Of course, later that night I ate 1 measley little double stuff oreo. Some may say that was rather counter-productive. But at least I didn't eat the whole effing sleeve of oreos with a 1/2 gallon of 2% milk to dunk them in. Everything in moderation...right?

[SIDENOTE: It's so wrong that my mouth is watering thinking about oreos & milk - picture Homer Simpson like drooling with my mouth half open.]

I use food as a source of comfort. I really do. It's sad & pathetic. But I think alot of people probably do that. But, I think recognizing that I actually do use food as a source of comfort is good. When I am sad, I eat. When I am ticked the heck off, I eat. When I am stressed, I eat A. LOT. Now I know what to do to stop that. When I am stressed, I will work out. When I am ticked the heck off, I will work out.

Even though I am not Catholic, I figure this is as good as time as any to get started on this. Yesterday, I decided that I am going to exercise every day until Easter. We will see what happens in 40 days. Hopefully, I will see results. But if I don't it will be my own fault.

I would say it is safe to assume ol' Jillian & I will continue this Love/Hate relationship for the rest of my life. And I will see Jillian again tonight!
