Shrek Throat Round 2

Olivia has been under the weather. Saturday she complained of a headache, ibuprofen it was & she was fine. Sunday she rapidly declined. I know this because she wanted me to hold her...my 5 year old crazy daughter wanted me to hold her. How often does this happen? Ummmm only when she is sick. She had a fever, headache, & a sore throat. She felt pretty crummy all day long.

So yesterday, I took her to the Dr. Nothing like having to prepare my darling, rambunctious little girl for what I was sure was to take place at the Dr. "Olivia, they are going to tickle your throat with a q-tip. You are going to be a brave little girl right?" She was brave before we left the house. And she was still golden while we were waiting to be called back to the exam room. But once we got back in there, she lost it. She said "You always make me do this" while sobbing. This girl has only been to the Dr because she is sick like 5 times total her whole life. So, yes that would mean that I make her do this all the time. One day she will understand...

What was the verdict, you know other than how mean of a mom I am? Strep Throat...nice, huh. We left with amoxicillin - which makes her act all wild & crazy. At least this time, she can say "strep throat" instead of "shrek throat". Maybe you remember that, from almost this exact time last year.

This is American Idol

I

I can't get enough of the auditions! No joke, they are probably my favorite part. But after like 3 or 4 weeks, however many it was this time, that seemed like a lot. I ♥ it all though!

Hollywood week came to an end last night. And now my friends we have the top 24.

Dearest Simon, Randy, Kara, & Ellen - I ♥ you guys too! But come on now. Some of the people sent home should have got into the top 24. Are y'all trying to do a repeat of the whole fiasco that was Megan Joy from last year? Really...

P to the S - It is so nice to not have to deal with Paula's crazy-drug induced-incoherent ramblings. Wonderful!

Anywho, I do enjoy me some Andrew Garcia! He is my top pick. Now watch him get eliminated in the first round of narrowing down to 12. Hope I didn't jinx him. I loved that he sang Paula Abdul's 'Straight Up' with his guitar! LOVED IT!!!

I HATE LOVE HATE Jillian

Since I constantly forget to post on my Chubby McFatPants Blog, I made the executive decision to combine the two. I plan on just doing it all right here. So without further ado, here is my newest installment of:

Here's the thing about Jillian...I can't decide if I love her or if I hate her.
Today, as I winced when I stepped into the shower because lifting & bending my leg simultaneously hurt immensely - I hated her. When I was washing my hair (which obviously requires lifting my arms up over my head) and I thought my arms just might fall right off my body - I hated her.

Last night, when I successfully completed the whole work out - I loved her. And today when I hurt as much as I did - I loved her. Because it is proof that I actually did something.

Granted, upon completion of Round 1 of the 30 Day Shred I really thought I was going to barf. I have been fighting a slight cold, so picture me doing my lovely asthmatic wheezing. It was wonderful. But, once I caught my breath & got my heart rate down to a normal level - I think that took at least 20 minutes - I felt good. I felt like I had actually took a step in the right direction. I am making progress. I drank 2 glasses of water. And I was pumped for the rest of my night.

Of course, later that night I ate 1 measley little double stuff oreo. Some may say that was rather counter-productive. But at least I didn't eat the whole effing sleeve of oreos with a 1/2 gallon of 2% milk to dunk them in. Everything in moderation...right?

[SIDENOTE: It's so wrong that my mouth is watering thinking about oreos & milk - picture Homer Simpson like drooling with my mouth half open.]

I use food as a source of comfort. I really do. It's sad & pathetic. But I think alot of people probably do that. But, I think recognizing that I actually do use food as a source of comfort is good. When I am sad, I eat. When I am ticked the heck off, I eat. When I am stressed, I eat A. LOT. Now I know what to do to stop that. When I am stressed, I will work out. When I am ticked the heck off, I will work out.

Even though I am not Catholic, I figure this is as good as time as any to get started on this. Yesterday, I decided that I am going to exercise every day until Easter. We will see what happens in 40 days. Hopefully, I will see results. But if I don't it will be my own fault.

I would say it is safe to assume ol' Jillian & I will continue this Love/Hate relationship for the rest of my life. And I will see Jillian again tonight!

Fit Throwing 101 with Rachel Totten

Step 1: scream like a mad woman to get everyone's attention & point at your big sister. This will make it clear to everyone that she is the one who has done wrong.
Step 2: simultaneously arch your back & stomp your feet while waving your hands all around - you may find this tricky at first & fall down. However, like with all things, practice makes perfect. Make sure that you don't swing too closely to your sister. Hitting her will get you a trip right to time-out & trust me that step stool in the corner is no fun.
Step 3: scream even louder & pull your own hair. This is sure to get your Mom's attention. And maybe this will be the final step in having her put down the stinkin camera & come to your rescue. Be careful, you may end up in time-out if you scream right in her face, I have made that mistake. Make sure you tell her that your sister is the offender & you are the helpless victim.

(just be happy there is no sound with these pictures, she is one high-pitched screamer)

100 Days Smarter

Olivia is 100 days smarter!
Her class celebrated the 100th day of school on Friday, February 5th. Each child had to take 100 of something. What did my girl pick? Orange Tic Tacs. She's one funny kid.

Here's My Sign

Sorry Bill Engvall, I ain't talkin' about a "stupid sign". I am talkin' about the signs that show me that I am a grown-up.

I know what you are thinking, I have been a grown-up for quite some time now. I am 28, married for almost 7 1/2 years, I have a 5 year old & a 2 year old. Yes, I do realize all of these things make me a grown-up.What really makes me stop & say "wow, I am a grown-up" are the little things. Things that I never really thought I would do.

For example, bonus time at work is coming up. Can I get a WOOT WOOT???

What am I going to do with my bonus? I am glad you asked.

Isn't she pretty??? I am sooooo excited about this new range. A smooth top - LOVES IT!!! I hate the stupid effing coils. I am forever cleaning those little effers out. And I couldn't be happier to be getting a smooth top!

We are in desperate need of a new range! Considering the heating element in our lovely biscuit colored 20 year old Frigidaire busted sending a puff of stinky white smoke to fill our kitchen/living room. Did I forget to mention, this happened before Thanksgiving. We have been living off of meals I can make entirely on the stove-top or in the pizza oven since then. Anywho...

This is how I know I am officially a grown-up. I admit it; I am excited about buying a new range. Furthermore, the fact that I get to go to Lowes to buy it is icing on the cake. I LOVE LOWES. On the real, next to Hob Lob, it's my favorite store. While we are there we will pick out the refridgerator that will soon join our lovely new addition. Very exciting!

V-I-C-T-O-R-Y

Maybe I shouldn't be as happy as I am about stomping my dear sweet Olivia in Wii Bowling.

Let the record show that Olivia beat me 2 games in a row before I decided to actually put forth serious effort. I didn't think the little stinker would be able to beat me. But she did.

Sorry Liv, mama is competitive.

Business as Usual (aka - Random Stuff)

Whew...Feels good to be back among the living.

Sunday was the first day I felt like my normal sassy self. I know Jarrett was thrilled that I got my spunk & attitude back ;) How did he go nearly 2 weeks without hearing sarcastic remarks & seeing eye rolls? He loves me, he really does.

I watched the Super Bowl & was admittedly disappointed that The Colts didn't pull off a win. I really was rooting for them, you know since my boyfriend didn't make it to the post-season. (Jay, don't worry your pretty little head one bit. 2010 is going to be The Bears season! ♥)

Yesterday, I returned to work. I ain't gonna lie, it was a loooooong day. Sitting up all day, not wearing pajama pants all day, no nap, no marathon of Law & Order SVU or Roseanne for me to drift in & out of sleep to. {SIGH} Alas, I survived it without pain pills, only good old Ibuprofen.

Today, is a new day. I feel well rested. Thank you Tylenol PM - you made my slumber nice & uninterrupted. Thank you Olivia & Rachel - you both deciding to sleep all night long in your room without waking for water, milk, fruit snacks, bathroom breaks, etc...That was soooo nice of you. Let's keep it up, m'kay.

Today is also a "snow day" for Olivia. She is pretty stoked about that! Heck, name one student who wouldn't be.

I, for one, AM. NOT. STOKED. I can tolerate a light dusting of pretty white snow. I love how it makes everything look so pretty & how it simply sparkles when the sun hits it. However, this ain't that kind of snow. 6 to 8 inches people, & it is going to no doubt blow, drift, and make for all around miserable conditions today & tomorrow. NOT. GOOD. TIMES. Can you say "white knuckle"? I can & I did. I am not complaining. Well, okay I am. So sue me.

I ♥ Faces - Kisses

I know I stand no chance of winning, because I am by no means a good photographer. However, I do ♥ taking pictures of my girls! This is probably one of my very favorite ones of them, so when I saw it is Kissin Week at I ♥ Faces, I couldn't resist.

Rachel is only 1 month old & Olivia is 3. Where did the time go??? Luckily, today these girls still like each other!

Go check out the rest of the kissy faces at I ♥ Faces.

Mama has been out of commission

I have been so out of commission this past week & a half. What happens when Mama is out of commission???

The kids are left to fend for themselves.

The kids get to break the house rules.

Well, that is not completely true. But I have been feeling pretty rotten lately. And Jarrett has had to take over a lot of the responsibilities here. And we have been maybe more than lax in our execution of our normal routine & rules.
