Illinois State Fair

we went to the state fair this weekend. i lov ethe fair. literally the best people watching ever. and as luck would have it, we went on the night ke$ha was there performing so there were all kinds of glittery, scantily-clad, fish-net wearing girls walking around.

 

we enjoyed the dive show.

 

we saw the infamous butter cow.

we played games & won fabulous prizes.

we were hot & sweaty.

 

we enjoyed the exotic petting zoo.

 

we had lots & lots of fun.

rest & relaxation

we took a few days to just enjoy each other. rest & relaxation on a little extended weekend get-away. what the girls call our big summer vacation.

it was wonderful. the kids laughed. we laughed. it was fun. here are just a few pictures from our trip. i don't want to go into picture overload...

4th of July Festivities - 1 week late

oh my the 4th of july seems like it was forever ago, not just the 1 week or so ago.

 

we had an awesome long weekend. lots of time relaxing by the pool. lots of strawberitas. lots of laughs.

friday we spent more time at grandma & grandpa's.

 

ellis came with us & i made him jump in. i'm a mean aunt like that. he loved it though.

my mom has all these lights strung around her little canopy. this parrot doesn't work so brad duck-taped his neck so he can be just like petey on dumb & dumber. i laughed so hard.

 

more baby britton time on saturday.

 

rachel thought a trip to prompt care would be an awesome ending to the long weekend. viral infection so nothin but ibuprofen for my girl.

 

liv was exhausted on monday. her sunburn was peeling a little and she was very frowny.

 

it was an awesome 4 day weekend. but man did we all come down hard after that.

summer fun

summer is in full swing. 

between thunderstorms the past few days, and sizzling hot temps - we are in full on summer mode now. last year we couldn't buy a drop of rain. within the past week we have gotten about 5 or 6 inches of rain. oh and some hail. can't go without hail.

it hailed monday evening - pea sized. i was able to pick some up to show rachel, but olivia was fuh-reaking out about the storm sirens going off so she wouldn't come near the door. the tornado warning a few weeks ago scarred her for life. who would have thought being woken & taken down to the dark basement during a power outage would frighten the girl? we are expecting more rain & storms today. so it's all around fantastic.

but in the midst of these storms, we have been squeezing in some fun in the sun. like grandma's pool. it's pretty fun. these pictures are from sunday after we all visited baby Britton.

 

 

olivia digged being up on grandpa's shoulders. but she would purposely jump or dive off rather quickly. so i didn't get as many pictures of her.

 

 

now rachel, on the other hand, she would have stayed up all day. she was dancing, as you can see. and grandpa was eating it up, clearly.

 

oh this summer. we are going to have fun. we are still planning out our summer bucket list. and planning out what we are going to do. hopefully friday night we will be able to scratch off a couple of items - ice cream for dinner & going to a movie. so convenient the theater is next to dairy queen.
