saturday, we went to our county fair. i should use the word "fair" very loosely here. it really was 5 rides, 4 food vendors, & truck/tractor pulls. jar was going to go to the tractor pulls anyway, the girls & i decided to tag along. i've gone with him to several, but this was the girls first go-round with pulls. i'm sure they will agree to their awesomeness. haha
let me say, we probably need to get our kids out more. we were driving to the fair grounds - literally 10 minutes from our hosue - and rachel asked us what state we were in because "it looks like new jersey". and olivia said "this all looks familiar, is this st. louis?" farmer city, il. that's the big time!
the sign said "free carnival" don't get too excited. the carnival consisted of 3 carnival rides & 2 bounce houses. but hey, free is free.
olivia did this ride first thing. she loved it. we could not get rachel to join her. we tried.
then off to the bounce house.
liv has some serious hops.
rachel walks like an egyptian in every bounce house. even though she has no idea what that means. she just does it & i laugh everytime.
ok. i may have led rachel to believe i would be joining her & olivia on this ride. but at the last minute, i may have said - have fun. you 2 will be fine. enjoy the captions. the 1st conversation actually took place.
then after a couple of times around...
smiles are better than tears!
she did it 4 more times after that. hey, it was free & we were there to get out moneys worth.
i wanted to go on the tilt-a-whirl with olivia but she wasn't having any of it. she said, and i quote, "lady, if you think i am getting on there, you are outside of your mind." - where on earth has the little darling heard that expression? {cough, cough} - from me.
if you were to ask the girls, what was the best part of the tractor pulls, their answer would be the snow cones.
it was loud. and hot. and sticky. and sweaty. it was july in illinois.
this is 100% redneck of me, but i actually enjoy tractor pulls a great deal. they are fun. there i said it.
for the record, i said "do you need to go to the bathroom?"
jar's best buddy from high school has a diesel pulling truck. he did really well.
and by like 9:30 rachel had clearly had enough fun for the day. and she passed out in her daddy's lap.
and there we have it. we came. we saw. we kicked the dewitt county fair's ass.
