i wanna rock

friday night, the jar & i went to a rock concert. now, if you had asked me before i went i would say "not really my thing. i'm going because jar really wants to go." but if you ask me now i would say, "loved it. it was a little harder than i thought it would be. but i loved it & i would go again in a heartbeat."

by harder i mean, holy crap that was HEAVY METAL. why was i not prepared for that?! probably because i listen to country radio 90% of the time. some of the songs were just noise, but overall, it was very good.

the jar was supposed to bring me earplugs, but he didn't. he said i wouldn't fully experience the concert if i wore earplugs. fyi - he was wrong. when we arrived at the coliseum i asked the nice lady at the information desk if she knew where i could get my hands on some earplugs. it just so happens she had a huge box full of earplugs. party bonus.

i didn't wear them the entire night, but i did for a very good portion.

i love shinedown - they were the headliner. maybe i should rephrase that, i love the shinedown music i have heard on the radio. even my lovely top 40 station plays some shinedown. five finger death punch - they were the last of the opening bands, jar really likes them. i have heard some of their songs that he enjoys. i feel i was ill-prepared for how hard they were. really, what did i expect with a name like five finger death punch?

and like any good girl, it was so awesome to people watch there! i mean, some of the best people watching i have experienced outside of the state fair. haha! there were all kinds there, i'd say it was a quite diverse crowd. mah bestie, laura, agrees with my assessment of the ultimate people watching. i laughed the whole night at the people sitting directly in front of us, hey i wasn't there to make friends. it was a high school aged boy & his mother. who sat the whole night, reading a book between bands, with her arms crossed & a look on her face like she was smelling something really foul. the boy didn't seem to care, he was standing, jumping around, generally rocking out to each & every song. he kept slapping him mom on the arm & back, getting in her face singing, & shooting up the "horns" at her. it was pure awesome.

downside of the night, bumping into a sweaty shirtless man on my way to the ladies room. i'm a shorter gal, so i basically ended up with a face full of nipple & hairy armpit. my dad asked if i had gotten in the mosh pit, i told him about the nipple incident & he said that qualifies. so there we have it.

Rachel's Spring Program

Rachel had her pre-school Spring program Tuesday night. Basically, she graduated from the 3 year old pre-school class to the 4 year pre-school class, which will start in the fall.

Songs & a certificate presentation were on the agenda.

Of course, Miss Priss wore her best frilly girly dress.

Head & shoulders
knees & toes
 eyes & ears & mouth & nose

If you're happy & you know it, clap your hands

Throw your hands in the air & wave em around like you just don't care

and when your name is at the end of the alphabet you must wait very patiently.

Oh, Miss Rachel, we are so very proud of you! We love you to pieces!
